How Can I Make Pizza in a Microwave Oven in 4 Easy Steps
Which food comes to mind when you are bored with everyday meals? Or when you want to have your friends over for a hangout? Obviously, you’re thinking of pizza. But can you make pizza at home? The answer is yes! Making pizza in microwave ovens is a fairly easy task.
Firstly, what you need is a convection oven. If you have a grill oven or a solo oven, you cannot make a pizza in it as these microwaves do not have pre-heating functions. So ensure you have a convection microwave oven and follow this four-step process to satisfy your belly:
Step 1: Preparing pizza dough
We start with the bas(e)ics first. Pizza dough or the base can look a bit complicated but is quite simple to make really. All you need is all-purpose flour, oil, salt, yeast and water. First up, add the yeast in 30 ml of warm water and mix it till it dissolves well. Now, take all-purpose flour in a big bowl, add the oil, salt, and yeast solution, and knead it until smooth.
Fermentation
Add the dough to a bowl coated with oil and make sure the dough is covered with oil evenly by rolling it over. Once it’s done, cover the bowl with a lid and keep it at room temperature for an hour. You can leave it out a bit longer during the winter season. After the hour is up, you can see that the dough has almost doubled in size. Now, roll it flat in a cylindrical shape with the help of a rolling pin until it resembles a pizza base.
Take a baking dish and apply half a tablespoon of oil to it. Place the pizza base on it and make a few slashes over its surface so that it can soak the cheese in it. Once your pizza base is ready, you are one step closer to making a pizza in a microwave!
And if you are impatient and don’t want to go through this entire ordeal, you can just buy a ready-made pizza base from a store near you!
Step 2: Preheating the oven
Now comes the reason you need a convection microwave oven to make a pizza. Preheating is an important part of baking anything in a microwave oven because it needs a pre-defined temperature to begin the baking process.
For your pizza, you can preheat your oven to 392°F or 200°C (check which temperature unit your microwave follows). To do this, click on the Microwave/Grill/Combi/Convection option and turn the knob to set the convection temperature. Press the start button twice - the first press will confirm the temperature and the second press will start preheating the oven. You do not need to set the time here as the buzzer will automatically sound off when the preheating temperature arrives. This is when you must put your food into the microwave oven, which brings us to the next step.
Step 3: Choosing your favourite toppings
After baking the pizza dough, you should keep in mind the type of pizza you want to make and the toppings you wish to add. Prepare a list of ingredients such as tomatoes, bell pepper, olives, baby corn, mushrooms or meat. Furthermore, pick out the sauce and cheese to spread on the pizza base.
Once you are set on the toppings, chop them into finer parts or an appropriate size. Here, you can follow two methods - add cheese over the sauce and then add the toppings or add the toppings first, followed by cheese. But, if you are a cheese lover, you could say yes to both! Make sure your toppings are spread evenly over the surface in the right quantity and then add a layer of grated cheese over it.
Step 4: Baking the pizza in a microwave
With that, your pizza is ready to hit the microwave. Once your microwave is pre-heated, carefully place the pizza inside and set the time to 20 minutes and press the start button again. After your 20 minutes are up, a delicious pizza awaits to be taken out of the microwave and served hot!
Note: Always use microwave-friendly gloves while making pizza at home in the microwave.
